Event Entry

Event Entry

An event entrance should be both pronounced and the obvious point of engagement. The addition should either feel as a cohesive whole to the existing building, or have a clean break. The new curved entrance achieves both by introducing a new form (the curve) into this otherwise rectilinear classic high school. The glass provides a clear break between the materials of the existing and new.

The precast panels were designed to have a rhythm and pattern that worked with the formwork to maximize variety and efficiency of the formwork. The pattern is an abstraction of the movement of swimmers as they move across the lanes of the pool.
